Common Questions
Everything you need to know about exploring Diamond Hill and Connemara's trails
Absolutely. The Diamond Hill beginner trail is specifically designed for people returning to hiking or trying it for the first time. It's about 7km round trip with gentle slopes, and you can take as much time as you need with plenty of spots to rest and enjoy the views.
The trail is rated as easy, taking 2–3 hours depending on your pace and how often you stop. We structure our guided walks to take the full 3 hours, so there's no rush. Most people find the climb manageable, with the reward being 360-degree views across Connemara from the summit.
No special experience needed. If you can walk comfortably for 30 minutes, you're ready for this trail. We keep groups small and move at a pace that works for everyone, with plenty of breaks built in.
Bring plenty of water, a packed lunch or snacks, and wear layers—Connemara weather changes quickly. Good walking shoes or boots with ankle support are important for stability on uneven ground. We recommend checking our packing guide for a complete list. We run walks year-round, though autumn and spring offer the most comfortable conditions.
That's completely fine. Our guides know the trail well and can help you find alternative stopping points if needed. There's no pressure to reach the summit—enjoying the walk and the landscape at your own pace is what matters most.
